Adding a Blog to Your Company's Site

There are several ways to incorporate a blog into your site depending on how your site is developed.
Classic ASP Blogs:
When incorporating blogs into legacy sites such as sites developed in classic ASP, we often recommend the dmxReady BlogManager. This component is quick to install, style & operate. The dmxReady BlogManager also uses a versatile WYSIWYG editor which allows you to post formatted text, images, links & other content into the blog.
Content Managed System Blogs:
Both DotNetNuke & Joomla have versatile out-of-the-box blog systems built to enable on-site blogging. However, both offer specialized modules & components which can serve as more robust blogging tools. Depending on the needs of the site and the functions of the blog, we often recommend some of the Article or Multi-Page modules. Though DotNetNuke does have a brief learning curve, most clients find the interface user friendly and accessible. All DotNetNuke modules allow the use of full-featured editors for creating formatted text and including images. Building a blog system on top of a rich, content managed environment allows the blog to utilize other functions of the system We recommend this option if you have or are looking to build a fully content managed site.
WordPress:
There are times when it's appropriate to use a simpler content management blog system as your full site. Building a WordPress solution is a great option! WordPress can operate as a great stand alone site. Offering a rich editor & admin privileges, WordPress brings simplicity to the user.
Google Blogger:
Sometimes the best way to incorporate a blog is to utilize one of the many free blogging systems made available like Google's Blogger. This enables you to have an exterior blog which refers back into your site. Google is very proactive in updating their user interface. Google's blogger is a very basic, but advantageous system. The relationship with google's search engines is a big plus in their world, not to mention your ability to directly connect your Blogger account to Facebook's notes.
Goode Design is able to design, develop & deploy a blogging solution for your web strategy. As most blogs are used as a method to increase search engine traffic and generate buzz about your products or services, it is important to consider the methods to generate content for the blog posts. Additionally, we often recommend placing a post preview link on your home page and send incoming links to the blog posts from your company's Twitter & Facebook pages.
One great example is
ColorID's
new blog built in the Classic ASP environment. As the client continues to generate posts to their blog, the site should pick up search traffic within their industry. As always, it is important to write text that is both keyword rich and meaningful. When using a post preview on the home page, work to keep the first few lines rich in keywords to increase search engine rankings.
