LaGarde Inc., which develops e-commerce software, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as part of a plan to sell the struggling company. We have become aware that LaGarde, the maker of the current StoreFront.net system used in many web sites, has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Though we may see LaGarde be acquired by a competitor, we must consider what this means for those who are still using LaGarde's StoreFront.net system. Since imminent action is needed, you should consider this as a great head start on building a more robust, more effective store system for your website. How will this affect your site? As the bankruptcy continues, LaGarde may begin to disolve cusing technical support for the StoreFront.net system to no longer be available. The StoreFront.net system may halt upgrades which comply with current internet security standards. As online payment processing procedures evolve, StoreFront.net may remain stagnant and not adopt new protocols for internet & Credit Card processing security. As many credit card processing gateways require e-commerce sites to maintain current security protocols, this may cause your site's payment processing to stop working. How long do we have to look for another solution? Our current assessment of the LaGarde store system indicates that a move away from the LaGarde StoreFront.net system is in order as it is likely that we could see the StoreFront.net system become extinct. Our conservative estimate of time says we may 6 months to a year to begin moving away from the LaGarde StoreFront.net system. This should be plenty of time to implement the transition. It is possible that your store could remain functional longer, however, changes in online payment processing & e-commerce procedures may necessitate rapid changes and force the move away quicker. What solutions other solutions exist for a future move? We have already identified a new solution for your E-commerce store system. I am so happy we were able to find a developer that could keep our current LaGarde StoreFront e-commerce site online and working while still building a new ASPdotNetStoreFront site. We were able to move our existing inventory of products over to the new site and begin testing while not missing a lick. Not to mention that ASPdotNetStoreFront has quite a bit more features than LaGarde's old StoreFront. A month after the new site was up and running, we were able to disassemble the old site. ASPdotNetStoreFront's e-commerce solution gave us all the inventory, pricing, coupon management & content management control we wanted and exceeded our expectations. They offer a package that allows you to host MULTIPLE different stores with different product lines or multiple stores that share product lines to different vertical markets. One of our clients recently upgraded to ASPdotNetStoreFront away from LaGarde and was able to have coupons, offers, product rotation on the front page, login-based pricing, multiple-tiered pricing, MSRP/MAP pricing structures, image zoom and magnification... it was great. The multiple store system allowed them to create a store specifically for their different markets. They now have a store for healthcare, government, military, universities, ski resorts & accessories.
